The Proper Footwear Overview
Choosing the right shoe
I worked at several footwear retail outfits during the early to mid 90’s, and one of the most compelling educational lessons I learned was recommending the proper footwear for various sporting activities such as jogging tennis, hiking, basketball, football and so on. So I was fascinated to learn as much as I could because I too was and still am an athlete; so understanding the significance with wearing the proper sneakers during my various cardio sessions paid huge dividends with not just my own welling being but with my own clients.
These days, the most popular activities most of us partake in is either, walking, jogging or running, and a great deal of us conduct sessions in upwards of 45 minutes to beyond 1.5 hours, and 5 times a week if not every day; so you can imagine the amount of poundage the body takes, especially on the knees, hips, lower back and joints. In order to protect the body from the constant friction or pressure, we have to have shoes that not only contain flexible soles with highly durable shock absorption cushioning material (midsole), but also highly durable arch support.
Bottom line, as you select your fitness shoes, keep in mind that a lot of emphasis should also be placed on flexibility, and comfort; your decision in choosing the proper footwear will also depend on how you feel when you try them at the store; a perfect marriage with footwear depends on not only the factors mentioned above, but how you feel about them as well!
